A Protein Nuclear Extract fromD. melanogasterLarval Tissues
2008
Preparation of protein nuclear extracts is often the first step to study in vitro biological processes occurring in the nucleus of the eukaryotic cell. Nuclear extracts have been extensively used in different model organisms to identify and study protein function in nuclei. Drosophila embryos can be collected in large quantities and have been the source of choice for the production of protein nuclear extracts. However, most of Drosophila in vivo studies on protein function are conducted in larval tissues. Here we report a new method to produce highly stable large-scale protein nuclear extracts from whole Drosophila larvae that are suited for a variety of biochemical analyses.
The 1-way on-line coupled atmospheric chemistry model system MECO(n) – Part 2: On-line coupling with the Multi-Model-Driver (MMD)
2012
A new, highly flexible model system for the seamless dynamical down-scaling of meteorological and chemical processes from the global to the meso-γ scale is presented. A global model and a cascade of an arbitrary number of limited-area model instances run concurrently in the same parallel environment, in which the coarser grained instances provide the boundary data for the finer grained instances. Thus, disk-space intensive and time consuming intermediate and pre-processing steps are entirely avoided and the time interpolation errors of common off-line nesting approaches are minimised. More specifically, the regional model COSMO of the German Weather Service (DWD) is nested on-line into the …
Struktura systemu bezpieczeństwa narodowego Polski
2017
W artykule przedstawiono analizę systemu bezpieczeństwa Polski. Posłużono się jakościową definicją systemu. Wykonano diagramy ilustrujące sposób funkcjonowania systemu bezpieczeństwa państwa. Pokazano diagram kontekstowy oraz diagramy pierwszego i drugiego rzędu. Wskazano na sprzężenie systemu bezpieczeństwa państwa z otoczeniem. Zilustrowano podsystem kierowania, podsystemy wykonawcze i podsystemy wewnętrzne.
Model transformation language MOLA
2005
The paper describes a new graphical model transformation language MOLA. The basic idea of MOLA is to merge traditional structured programming as a control structure with pattern-based transformation rules. The key language element is a graphical loop concept. The main goal of MOLA is to describe model transformations in a natural and easy readable way.
An empirical evaluation of business model canvas in software startups : a team perspective
2019
Business model canvas is a commonly used tool among software startups. The tool aims to help companies develop business models and new strategies. Even though the model has been widely adapted among software startups a lack of scientific research regarding the topic can be found. This thesis evaluates how the business model canvas should be further devel- oped when it comes to early stage software startups. This is done with a team perspective. First, an understanding of software startups is created. Secondly, based on the literature the Team Component is presented including the con- structs of resources, networks, self-organization and way of working. After this, the scope is widened to bu…
Business model innovation for the SDGs: Towards a performance measurement system
2019
Business model innovation can be a key element for realizing the transformation needed to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals. However, literature on Sustainable Business Models still lacks quantitative-oriented approaches and tools supporting the implementation and assessment of business model innovations for sustainability. This study proposes an eight-phase performance measurement system supporting organisations in implementing, assessing and managing business model innovations aiming at contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. The performance measurement system builds upon literature on business model innovation for sustainability, performance measurement and manageme…
Business models and opportunity creation: How IT entrepreneurs create and develop business models under uncertainty
2016
How can entrepreneurs develop business models for markets in which the technology is constantly changing – or create business models for markets that do not exist? These are fundamental questions for information technology (IT) entrepreneurs, and for information systems (IS) scholars who seek to develop a theoretical understanding of business models. The case study presented in this paper addressed these questions, demonstrating how a small software firm developed its business model over a 15-year period in cloud gaming markets. Based on the empirical findings, a preliminary theoretical model is presented. The aim of the model is to increase scholarly understanding of how business models ar…
Towards a method to generate GUI prototypes from BPMN
2018
Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) provides organizations with a standard that facilitates further compression of the business process. BPMN focuses on the functional processes, leaving the development of interfaces to one side. Thereby, interface design usually depends on the subjective experience of the analyst. This article aims to propose a new method to generate user interfaces from BPMN models and Class Diagrams. The proposed method is based on the identification of different rules and makes use of stereotypes to extend BPMN notation. The rules have been extracted from seven existing projects on the Bizagi repository. Specifically, the proposal is based on the extraction of ru…
High Order Textural Classification of Two SAR ERS Images on Mount Cameroon
2006
Abstract Many researchers have demonstrated that textural data increase the precision of a classification when they are combined with level of grey information. However, the calculation of textural parameters of order two is often too long in a computer. The problem is more complex when one must compute higher order textural parameters, which however can considerably improve the precision of a classification. This work is based on statistical methods of order two and three for the calculation of textural parameters [Akono et al., 2003]. In this work, we suggest a new method of calculation of textural parameters, which is more general, not limiting itself only on order two or three, but whic…
EMU and the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue: Trade Interdependence between Mediterranean and Euro-area Countries
2009
Economic interdependence and trade encourage international dialogue and represent a base for reducing international conflicts. Hence, international co-operation for the reduction of barriers to trade and capital flows can be important not only in inducing economic progress, but also in promoting peace (Polachek and Siegle 2006). In this respect, the introduction of the euro represents an epochal event for both the participants in the single European currency and for their external partners, and in particular those in neighbouring regions. However, whilst a large body of literature has focused on analysing the first, in particular, with respect to the impact of the euro on intra-regional tra…
